Grampian extends the scope of its market-leading bus systems

Grampian Software, the UK market leader in computer systems for bus depot operations, is launching two additional modules for its Duty Allocation system at Transport Innovations (November 7-9 at the NEC), the UK’s leading transport technology show.

Grampian Software’s systems already control driver allocation for 30,000 buses carrying eight million passengers every day. The new modules extend the scope of the Duty Allocation into the allocation of vehicles and recording of mileage.

Commenting on the significance of the new modules, Jocelyn Goddard, Business Development Director of Grampian Software, said:

“Our existing Duty Allocation System, which is used by all five of the big UK bus groups, handles the complex task of allocating drivers to duties. In doing so, it takes into account all the factors affecting driver availability and provides full records right through to the production of timesheets for input into payroll systems.

The new modules extend our Duty Allocation system to handle the allocation of buses and the recording of mileage. It streamlines the allocation of suitable vehicles to each route, by mapping the preferred vehicles to the running board, warning the operator if an unsuitable vehicle is being allocated.”

The Vehicle Mileage module extends the allocation module to record and analyse scheduled, lost and additional mileage for the operator’s vehicle management teams, for fuel duty rebate claims and for local and transport authority reporting.

  • Transport Innovations (www.transportinnovations.com) is a new exhibition which focuses on the technologies and services which are shaping the transport of tomorrow. It takes place alongside Euro Bus Expo 2006 which is also in the NEC, Birmingham from November 7-9, 2006

November 2006 - Beam Global UK Ltd hosts DRAMS in US

Beam Global Spirits has purchased Grampian Software’s Distillery Records and Management System (DRAMS). It forms part of the US company’s effort to step up production at its newly acquired Ardmore and Laphroaig malt whisky distilleries.

The contract, worth in the region of £40,000, will be the first time the Grampian Software system has been installed overseas. The stock control system is required for HM Revenue and Customs reporting.

The six user system will be hosted from a server in Dallas, Texas, with users located throughout Scotland .

Hosting the system in America will give Beam Global Spirits and Wine, the fourth largest spirits company in the world, the opportunity to consider using DRAMS for its US bourbon operations longer term.

Commenting on the decision to install the system internationally, Ron Welsh, Bulk Stocks Manager, Beam Global Spirits, said:

“The installation of DRAMS was a strategic decision that will play an important role in the increased production at the Laphroaig and Ardmore distilleries. In hosting the system overseas there is an opportunity to observe the benefits of the software and examine the potential for adopting it across other similar areas of our business.”

Brian Johnston, managing director of Grampian Software, commented:

“Beam is a major player in the global drinks industry and its Jim Beam bourbon is a favourite worldwide. The prospect of extending our relationship with the company is very exciting.

Interestingly, this is the first time the system has been installed overseas, Although it will be operated much closer to home; at the Ardmore distillery near Huntly, the Laphroaig distillery on Islay and at Beam’s warehousing facility in Glasgow.”

Grampian Software’s Business development director, Jocelyn Goddard said:

“We are delighted to have implemented our system for use at the Laphroaig and Ardmore distilleries. And, whilst our key operations are very much focused in the UK, we are more than happy to explore international opportunities for all aspects of our products.”

The company has recently undertaken a number of fact finding trips to America and has appointed a US representative in an attempt to expand other areas of its business.

Laphroaig (named Whisky of the Year 2005) and Ardmore brands join existing DRAMS clients including; Wm Grant & Sons, Whyte & Mackay, Loch Lomond, Tomintoul, Tomatin, BenRiach and Speyside Distillers.
