Distillery Records and Management System

Overview

The DRAMS package is used to record and control bulk stocks of spirit from the initial filling or receipt until it is dispatched either as a straight sale or into a blending or bottling operation. DRAMS covers all types of spirit and provides control over a multi-location, multi-warehouse environment where stocks may belong to the holding company or customers.

The system records all stock movements in casks or in bulk and provides the W1 schedule as required by HMC&E. It has been designed in consultation with HMC&E and meets the standards required for official approval. The recent development of a Windows based package ensures that the software is modern and easy-to-use while providing the controls necessary in this industry.

Technical Background

Originally designed and developed in the mid 1970s in conjunction with a number of whisky producers, DRAMS has evolved over the years with the advance in technology while retaining the principals of security and control necessary in this environment. The system has recently been redeveloped in the Progress 4GL and relational database providing a Windows user interface and integration with Microsoft desktop products.

Progress allows the software to be deployed in a number of environments from a standalone PC to a local or wide area network with a Unix or NT central server.
